Customize Agent

Use Settings to shape how Agent responds, reasons, and takes action.

The Agent shortcut stays small and convenient while its behavior is controlled from your Shortcuts AI Settings. Changes save automatically and apply the next time you run Agent; you do not need to rebuild or reinstall the Shortcut.

Instructions

Instructions are the place for preferences, context, and rules Agent should follow repeatedly. They can describe your preferred response style, name a default calendar, or require confirmation before a sensitive action.

Model

Model settings let you choose which AI model powers Agent and how much reasoning it should use. Optional advanced controls adjust creativity and maximum response length.

The defaults are designed to work without configuration. Change these settings only when you have a reason to prefer a different behavior.

Tools

Tool settings control which online abilities and device actions Agent may choose. Disable a tool when you do not want Agent to use it.

One Agent across every entry point

Settings belong to your Agent, not to one way of launching it. The same choices apply whether you start from the Shortcuts app, Siri, the Share Sheet, an Action Button, or a widget.

Architecture and data flow

See what runs on your iPhone, what runs online, and how a Shortcuts AI request becomes a device action.

Write effective Instructions

Give Agent durable preferences, context, and rules without repeating them in every request.
